T7. Big 12 (7)

It wasn’t the best season for the Big 12, but it still sent 70 percent of its teams to the postseason. There needs to be an asterisk next to the Big 12’s ranking because it only has 10 teams and therefore a lesser opportunity to be at the top of this list. So seven isn’t bad.

Baylor was the conference champion, beating Oklahoma State in a thrilling Big 12 title game and both teams are heading to the New Year’s Six — Baylor to the Sugar Bowl and Oklahoma State to the Fiesta Bowl.

Oklahoma had an off-year, finishing as the league’s third-best team and the Sooners also lost their head coach to USC. Sooner fans are going to want to forget 2021 ever happened, but an Alamo Bowl stands between them and the offseason.

This is who the Big 12 has sent to a bowl game:

  • Kansas State (Texas Bowl) vs. LSU on Jan. 4
  • Baylor (Sugar Bowl) vs. Ole Miss on Jan. 1
  • Oklahoma State (Fiesta Bowl) vs. Notre Dame on Jan. 1
  • Oklahoma (Alamo Bowl) vs. Oklahoma on Dec. 29
  • Iowa State (Cheez-It Bowl) vs. Clemson on Dec. 29
  • West Virginia (Guaranteed Rate Bowl) vs. Minnesota on Dec. 28
  • Texas Tech (AutoZone Liberty Bowl) vs. Mississippi State on Dec. 28

T7. AAC (7)

What many consider to be a mini power conference and part of a “Power Six”, the American Athletic Conference is sending seven teams to the postseason, led by Cincinnati.

Yes, the Bearcats made history and became the first Group of Five team to ever make a College Football Playoff appearance. They’ll be facing Alabama in the Cotton Bowl and the entire conference will have to be rooting for them to make even more history.

Houston is the only other team listed in the final playoff rankings and will be headed to the Birmingham Bowl.

Here’s who’s bowl-bound from the AAC:

  • Cincinnati (Cotton Bowl) vs. Alabama on Dec. 31
  • SMU (Wasabi Fenway Bowl) vs. Virginia on Dec. 29
  • Houston (Birmingham Bowl) vs. Army on Dec. 28
  • East Carolina (Military Bowl) vs. Boston College on Dec. 27
  • Memphis (Hawaii Bowl) vs. Hawaii on Dec. 24
  • UCF (Gasparilla Bowl) vs. Florida on Dec. 23
  • Tulsa (Myrtle Beach Bowl) vs. Old Dominion on Dec. 20
