Michigan football’s Aidan Hutchinson earned an invite to the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Saturday and here’s why he should win it.

A little over a year ago, Michigan football standout Aidan Hutchison broke his leg. The Wolverines were in the midst of a 2-4 season and many thought they would never see Hutchinson wear the Maize and Blue again.

But Aidan Hutchinson, who is a Michigan football legacy, didn’t want his career to end that way — without a Big Ten title, without a win over Ohio State, or even a win in a bowl game.

So, instead of opting for the NFL draft and the millions that would have gone along with it, as he likely would have been a first-round pick, Hutchinson returned to Michigan football for another season and turned in one of the greatest seasons in school history.

The only season that compares, at least as a defender, is Charles Woodson in 1997, who won the Heisman Trophy in part because of what he could do on offense and special teams too.

Hutchinson doesn’t have that working in his favor. But he was invited to New York for a reason and here is why he should win the Heisman Trophy in 2021.

Aidan Hutchinson is the best player in college football

The Heisman Trophy is supposed to go to the best player in college football. It really is that simple and that player in 2021 is Aidan Hutchinson.

Bryce Young is the best quarterback in the country. Kenneth Walker III was the best running back. Hutchinson is the best overall player and that’s really the only argument he needs.

He’s been a force to be reckoned with and if his fumble recovery for a touchdown against Michigan State wasn’t wrongly overturned, as the Big Ten admitted, Michigan would be 13-0 and Hutchinson would have an even better chance of winning the Heisman Trophy.
