New USC football coach Lincoln Riley has to expect some pettiness and trolling to be dished his way and one Oklahoma lawmaker just won the petty war.

Let the petty wars commence.

After bolting from Oklahoma following a somewhat disappointing season, new USC football coach Lincoln Riley has been the topic of conversation around the nation.

The way in which he left Oklahoma for USC was nothing short of shocking and disappointing for Sooners fans. Even some Oklahoma lawmakers were disappointed in the move that left the state in complete disarray for a couple of days before hiring Brent Venables.

One lawmaker were to an extreme to show his disappointment — and pettiness — in the now-former head coach of Oklahoma.

Senator Bill Coleman from Oklahoma proposed that the last three inches of the westbound State Highway 325 be renamed the “Lincoln Riley Highway”.

This is exactly the kind of pettiness I sign up for as a fan of college football. When a coach abruptly leaves a program that he’s had a ton of success at for more money in a lateral move, I expect lawmakers to rename highways to troll the former coach. It’s only right.

USC football went out and got their guy

Riley accepted a monster deal with USC and it showed that the Trojans were ready to play ball with the big boys and they’re serious about winning.

If this meant suffering through an extra year of Clay Helton, USC fans are more than OK with it.

Plus, Riley should dominate in the Pac-12 with his high-octane offenses and inevitable Heisman-caliber quarterbacks. USC got their guy and the Oklahoma lawmakers are upset about it.
