Cristobal brings a winning brand of football

Miami football needs an identity. The Hurricanes used to have one. They used to be known for their swagger but they have just seemed lost ever since they have moved to the ACC.

There was the turnover chain, which was fun for a year. But even that quickly lost its luster. Even that team had no business competing with Clemson, which is what Cristobal must do.

Like Harbaugh with Ohio State, Clemson is the target that Cristobal has to shoot for. He’s got to be able to beat the Tigers or his team isn’t going to make the playoff.

Clemson had a down year and still won nine games and nearly made the ACC title game. I wouldn’t expect many more down years.

Miami is going to be built like an SEC program, just like Clemson. It will recruit that way and play that way — Cristobal is a former offensive lineman remember.

Oregon is wrongly viewed as a finesse team. But there was nothing finesse about the way the Ducks pounded Ohio State in Columbus in September.

That’s the kind of football that needs to return to Miami. The Hurricanes need to get back to winning the trenches, and with all the elite recruits I’d expect Cristobal to bring with him, and in short order, that’s exactly what I’d expect to happen.

The ACC is wide open for another power to emerge. Miami has been a sleeping giant too long and Cristobal is the perfect man to revive the Hurricanes once and for all.
