The best performances of the past 25 Heisman Trophy winners: 18. Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston is viewed as a turnover machine in the NFL. He’s routinely pumped out high interception seasons, including one year in which he threw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Even during his time at Florida State, Winston handed the ball to the other team a lot. In 2014, one year before locking up the Heisman, Winston threw 18 interceptions. His best year, whether it was as a pro or collegiate player, came in 2013. Winston completed 66.9% of his passes, threw for over 4,000 yards while connecting on 40 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions.

In terms of his best game ever that season, it was undoubtedly against Maryland. Florida State punished them all game long, winning 63-0. Winston was beyond unstoppable, he threw for 393 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Although he’s very much a turnover machine now, as a freshman in college, Winston was one of the best players in history in terms of taking care of the ball.
