The MAC champions have something to prove in the Cure Bowl

Northern Illinois is no stranger to bowl games. They’ve been to six bowl games since 2012; however, they are 0-6 in those games.

The Huskies would love nothing more than to bring their bowl game losing streak to an end when they take on Coastal Carolina in the Cure Bowl.

The last time Northern Illinois won a bowl game was in 2011 at the Go Daddy Bowl against Arkansas State.

The 2021 MAC champions have a very good chance at ending their streak. Led by Head Coach Thomas Hammock, these Huskies are playing their best football in years. This was the first time they’ve won nine or more games since 2014.

The Huskies have been winning games by playing smashmouth football. They have five players that have recorded 400 or more rushing yards this season. One of those players, Jay Ducker, rushed for more than 1,000 yards.

Coastal Carolina is going to have a hard time slowing down this running back by committee.
