Notre Dame football is looking to finish the 2022 recruiting class on a high note. Who could Marcus Freeman end up with on Wednesday?

Brian Kelly’s sudden departure shocked the nation, so you can imagine just how surprised Notre Dame football fans felt.

The Irish decided to promote Marcus Freeman to head coach following Kelly’s departure to LSU and it was actually well-received by the team as well as recruits. It feels like he’s only going to breathe life into the program. He’s young, recruits at a high level, and he’s a defensive mastermind.

Notre Dame looks like it could end the 2022 recruiting class on a high note as the Irish prepare for the Fiesta Bowl. The Irish currently have the No. 7 class in the country but here’s who could improve that on Wednesday.

Notre Dame held complete crystal ball control for Devin Moore over the summer, but the four-star safety from Naples, Fla., has been trending toward Florida recently.

It’s fairly clear that the Billy Napier hiring in Gainesville hasn’t deterred the four-star and it looks like it’s going to come down to Florida and Notre Dame at 8 a.m. ET on Early Signing Day. If he chooses the Gators, Marcus Freeman will have to get back to the drawing board before February’s final signing day and maybe even try to flip a committed prospect.

Freeman was actually Moore’s primary recruiter during the process so seeing Brian Kelly leave for LSU probably won’t have that big of an impact here.

What gives Florida a slight leg up right now is the fact that Moore just took an official to Gainesville on Dec. 10. He’s ranked the No. 252 overall recruit and 21st safety in the class, per the composite.
