This one doesn’t seem to be trending in Notre Dame’s direction, but there’s still at least a little hope left for four-star defensive lineman Hero Kanu to end up in South Bend next year.

Kanu is considering Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Georgia ahead of signing day and the Buckeyes look to be the leaders here. Ryan Day has done a solid job with the California-based recruit but Marcus Freeman might be making some last-minute calls to try and sway him.

Ranked the No. 105 overall recruit and 18th-best defensive lineman in the class, according to the composite. He’s a 6-5, 293-pound monster who would be an immediate game-changer for the Irish.

In fact, 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins has compared him to Cameron Heyward of the Pittsburgh Steelers and says he has 2-3 round potential.

Kanu could pick the Irish because Freeman was one of his lead recruiters, but Ohio State will be tough to beat.
