Early National Signing Day projected winner: Michigan Football

A few months ago, it was hard to predict how Michigan football’s 2021 recruiting class was going to play out. Recruits wanted to see the product on the field and make sure that there was stability with head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Well, after going 12-1, beating Ohio State, and winning Michigan football’s first Big Ten championship since 2004, the Wolverines answered all of those questions.

And Harbaugh, he now looks like one of the most stable head coaches in the country. Despite Aidan Hutchinson leaving for the NFL, Michigan football is young and talented. Players want to be part of that and with the Wolverines now in the playoff, they check all the boxes.

So expect a big day for Michigan football on Early National Signing Day. Michigan has 20 total commitments with one five-star and seven four-star recruits committed.

But on Wednesday, Michigan could add as many as four four-star recruits to its class and all of them are ranked in the top 250, with three in the top 125.

Darrius Clemons is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver out of Oregon who runs a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash. He was committed to Oregon but is from the state of Michigan and after a visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend, Michigan is trending in his recruitment.

The same can be said about former Oklahoma commitment Derrick Moore, who is a top-100 defensive lineman from St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

There are some issues since Biff Poggi was the head coach at that school but experts from 247 sports, On3.com, and Rivals are projecting Moore to Michigan, so it doesn’t seem like that will be an issue.

Additionally, the Wolverines are also trending with expert picks to land top-100 defensive back Keon Sabb, who recently decommitted from Clemson, as well as in-state defensive tackle Deone Walker.

Kentucky made a strong run at Walker and could still win his recruitment, but the Wolverines have momentum and Wednesday should be another banner day for Jim Harbaugh.
