Despite a 5-7 season, Florida State football signed one of the ACC’s best recruiting classes. Who will make an instant impact for the Seminoles next season?
It has been a frustrating few seasons for the Florida State Seminoles. They have struggled to make bowl games under Willie Taggart and Mike Norvell, but there were signs of life in 2021.
Despite missing another bowl game, Norvell got the Seminoles to 5-7 after an 0-4 start to the year. The offense showed signs of life and the defensive line was one of the best in the conference. All of these things considered, it was a good job by Norvell to sign a top 25 class and one of the best in the ACC.
Most of the signing day coverage surrounding Florida State is going to revolve around the decommitment of No. 1 prospect Travis Hunter. He decommitted and signed with Jackson State after being committed to FSU the entire cycle. This was a huge loss for Florida State, as Hunter is a generational type talent that could have been an easy choice to make an instant impact for the Seminoles next year.
As the roster stands now, Florida State is in dire need of some playmakers on both sides of the ball. The defensive line is going to lose some playmakers, including Jermaine Johnson. Quarterback Jordan Travis is a tremendous athlete and playmaker, but he has not made huge strides as a passer, leaving his spot open for question going into next season.
If Florida State is going to get back to contending in the ACC, they are going to need more recruiting classes like this one.
Here are the three early signees that will make an impact for Florida State in 2022.
