2. Chubba Purdy, transfer from Florida State

One of the most underrated options available in the transfer portal right now is Chubba Purdy, formerly of Florida State.

Purdy is the younger brother of Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy and was actually a highly-rated recruit coming out of high school in the 2020 class. Purdy was ranked 192 overall in the 247 sports composite rankings and is a dual-threat quarterback.

While his two seasons at Florida State were interrupted with injuries, he did start a game against NC State as a true freshman and has four career touchdown passes on 56 attempts. He was 5-for-5 for two scores in limited action in 2021.

What makes Purdy so interesting to me is that Mark Whipple is already interested in him. Before he was hired as Nebraska football OC, he visited Purdy as part of the Pittsburgh staff.

Whipple’s resume is looking pretty solid right now after what he was able to do with Kenny Pickett last season and with a starting job just waiting to be filled, it would be an ideal situation for Purdy, who has the ability to run and throw — another reason he would be a perfect it with Nebraska.
