The Tennessee Volunteers and the Purdue Boilermakers will meet for just the second time ever when the teams take the field in the Music City Bowl 2021.

The last time these two teams met was in the 1979 Bluebonnet Bowl, which was a Houston-based bowl that operated from 1959 until 1987.

Purdue (8-4) is representing the Big Ten, while Tennessee (7-5) is representing the SEC in this bowl game.

Let’s take a look at three reasons why you should be tuning into this exciting match-up of the Music City Bowl 2021.

Can Tennessee extend its bowl game-winning streak?

While Tennessee hasn’t been in a bowl game in every season, they have won each of the past four bowl games they have appeared in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019.

That record spans the head coaching eras of Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt.

The Vols have wins in the TaxSlayer Bowl, Outback Bowl, Music City Bowl, and the Gator Bowl during that time span.

Tennessee is looking to get Josh Heupel his second career bowl win as a head coach. He was 1-2 in bowl games at UCF.
