Notre Dame football out gains Oklahoma State in rushing on the ground

Notre Dame would have its hands full going up against the Cowboys’ defense with star running back Kyren Williams suiting up, but with him declaring for the NFL Draft it sure does not make it any easier. The Irish still have tons of talent in the backfield without Williams which is the main reason why they will outgain the Cowboys on the ground.

The Irish have a lot of depth at the running back position. You have Chris Tyree, Logan Diggs, Audric Estime, and C’Bo Flemister who can all contribute for Notre Dame. Other teams like Oklahoma State do not have depth at running back when their star goes down. That was put on full display last month in the Big 12 title game. Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will do a good job of keeping the backs fresh all game long rotating them in and out. Expect Logan Diggs to be the main workhorse of the group.

Another reason why I believe that Notre Dame football will rush for more on the ground than Oklahoma State is the play of the offensive line.

Early on in the 2021 season, the offensive line was not one of the bright spots on the team but as the season went along it really started to click for the unit.

Due to a lot of injuries along the offensive line they never really seemed to get their footing early on but as they got comfortable playing with the same guys they kept getting better and playing much more confident. Yes, going up against a defense like Oklahoma State will be tough, but one that Notre Dame will play well against on Saturday.
