Michael Mayer and Kevin Austin each score a touchdown

The Irish do lose a playmaker no longer having Kyren Williams as an option but they still have other guys on the roster. Two of those players are Michael Mayer and Kevin Austin Jr. The Cowboys will need to know where these two players are at all times while they are on the field.

Michael Mayer literally can do it all. He can block, run, and catch. It really is hard to believe that he is only a sophomore in college. Mayer is such a mismatch out there because he can outrun linebackers and is just so much bigger than the defensive backs he is matched up against in space. Jack Coan will find him for at least one score on Saturday.

Before this year nobody really got to see who Kevin Austin Jr. was on the college stage at Notre Dame. There were multiple injuries and a year-long suspension that prevented him from being out there but we finally are seeing why Austin Jr. was such a high recruit coming out of high school. The Florida native has caught 42 targets for 783 yards and six touchdowns.

It did not take Kevin Austin Jr. long to become a favorite target for quarterback Jack Coan because of his great size, speed, and just overall athleticism. He did have his drops here and there, but way more positives than negatives.

Jack Coan will find both of his favorite targets on Saturday in Mayer and Austin Jr. This Fiesta Bowl should be a great game featuring two really good teams.

Do not expect a blowout here between Notre Dame and Oklahoma State. I wouldn’t be shocked either to see this game go down to the wire. When the clock hits all zeroes Marcus Freeman will be getting a Gatorade shower for his first of many wins as the head coach at Notre Dame.
