The 2021 season ended suddenly for Texas A&M football after a COVID-19 outbreak so it’s time for Jimbo Fisher to look toward 2022 and the portal.

Jimbo Fisher may have won the offseason to this point because, well, he missed out on missing the regular season after canceling a bowl appearance due to COVID-19. Texas A&M football could continue that offseason success after signing the No. 1 recruiting class in the early period by landing some top transfers from the portal.

The Aggies have an elite recruiting class coming in, but why not check in on the portal to see if there are any veteran players looking to help them win the SEC title.

It’s still early and there are sure to be countless additions to the transfer portal over the coming weeks, but looking at it now, who should the Aggies target?

Branden Jennings is one of two top recruits from Maryland’s 2021 class to decide to move on from the program after just one season. He is a former four-star linebacker from Florida who actually started some games this season for the Terrapins and played in seven games before a nagging leg injury derailed his freshman year.

Jennings was having a solid season and was even named a midseason Freshman All-American by ESPN and On3 and he finished the year with 23 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble.

The former top-150 recruit was actually Maryland’s third-highest ranked signee in the 2021 class and held over 40 offers out of Jacksonville, Fla., including one from Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.

With Aaron Hansford departing, does Jimbo reach out to Jennings and see if he (and maybe another Maryland transfer to be named later) would be open to joining the Aggies?
