2. Travis Shaw, DL

Travis Shaw is one of the highest-rated recruits to ever sign with North Carolina. Ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the country, Shaw is a big-bodied defensive lineman at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds and can move well for someone of his size.

Mack Brown has made it a point to recruit well on the defensive line in recent years. Landing a player like Shaw is further proof of that commitment and he is going to see the field immediately for North Carolina in 2022.

To say that North Carolina had a poor defense this season would be a massive understatement.

There is no other reason than their defense for their 6-7 record this season and it will need to be addressed heading into next season. Being able to land instant impact players like Shaw is going to help turn this defense around and make it easier to compete for an ACC Coastal crown next season.
