5 teams that absolutely embarrassed their fanbases in bowl games this season
Future Big 12 Conference member lost to Group of Five team
BYU, who will soon be headed to the Big 12 Conference, did not inspire much enthusiasm when it lost to UAB in the Independence Bowl.
The Cougars allowed the Blazers to get off to a 14-0 start in the first quarter. BYU couldn’t pull itself out of the hole until the opening moments of the fourth quarter. Still, UAB used their momentum to spoil the BYU comeback, losing 31-28.
Losing to a Conference-USA team, even a good one, is not a good look for a team that is in the early stages of moving up to a Power Five conference.
Michigan fans continue to be embarrassed by Harbaugh in bowl games
Michigan continues its losing streak in bowl games. The Wolverines have just one bowl win under Jim Harbaugh (2015 Citrus Bowl). They have lost five consecutive bowl games now, and eight of their last 10 overall, dating back to the Rich Rodriguez era.
Wolverine fans knew they had a mountain to climb against Georgia, but they were not expecting to go through a buzzsaw. The Bulldogs easily dispatched Michigan and made it look like the Wolverines didn’t belong anywhere near the 2021 CFB Playoffs.
Michigan would have finished with just three points in the game had it not been for an Andrel Anthony touchdown reception in the final five minutes of the game. Wolverine fans have to be disappointed with a 34-11 showing in the playoffs.
Is this enough to make Harbaugh bolt for the NFL, as he is currently rumored to be contemplating?
