6. Tiyon Evans: from Tennessee to Louisville

Signing players in the transfer portal is all about culture and fit. Tennessee transfer running back Tiyon Evans signing with the Louisville Cardinals is all about scheme fit. Evans is a versatile running back with the ability to break long runs.

Evans signed with the Cardinals less than two weeks after announcing that he’d put his name in the transfer portal. Louisville went 6-7 this season after losing the First Responder Bowl to the Air Force.

Evans, the top-ranked JUCO transfer in 2021, is a value add for the Cardinals. Running back, Hasan Hall put his name in the portal because of how crowded the backfield had become with the emergence of newcomers Jalen Mitchell and Trevion Cooley.

Evans is an upgrade over both Mitchell and Cooley. He and quarterback Malik Cunningham in the same backfield will be problems for opposing defenses.
