2. Jahmyr Gibbs: from Georgia Tech to Alabama

The rich get more prosperous as the Alabama Crimson Tide sign Georgia Tech transfer portal running back Jahmyr Gibbs. As a player, Gibbs puts you in the mind of former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs and former Volunteer Charlie Garner.

Gibbs does not just run hard; he runs angry. Gibbs has a compact (5-foot-9 and 200 pounds) frame that is hard to target between the tackles and even more challenging in the open field because his pad level is low.

Alabama wanted Gibbs for his versatility. Not only did he lead the Yellow Jackets in rushing last season, but he also was second on the team in receptions. Gibbs does have the ability to flex out wide or line up in the slot, much like Jacobs did at Alabama.

Gibbs has every opportunity to be featured back with Brian Robinson, Jr. graduating. Blue chipper Trey Sanders is still there, but he’s had injury issues, and five-star freshman Camar Wheaten is returning from injury.

Gibbs gives Alabama a versatile, explosive playmaker from the backfield. Bryce Young gets yet another weapon to throw to and hand the ball off to. He does give Alabama something they have not had in a while, a legit home run threat from the backfield.
