The 2021 college football season is officially in the books and we have crowned a new champion, but what could the 2022 rankings look like?

It’s been quite the season for college football fans as they were treated to a somewhat normal season after a COVID-19-plagued 2020 campaign.

We saw a fun slate of bowl games though there were a handful that were canceled because of COVID-19 and we were unable to see teams like NC State, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Boise State partake in the originally-scheduled postseason games.

The New Year’s Six didn’t disappoint, however.

The Peach Bowl between Michigan State and Pitt kicked things off and didn’t disappoint as the Spartans turned an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit into a 10-point win. The Fiesta Bowl also featured a comeback as Oklahoma State battled back down three scores to beat Notre Dame in Marcus Freeman’s first game as head coach. The Rose Bowl, too, featured a comeback as Ohio State looked cooked before Jaxon Smith-Njigba took over and the Buckeyes stormed back to beat Utah.

Matt Corral’s injury in the Sugar Bowl kind of marred that contest as Baylor was able to win with its stingy defense but the future is bright for Ole Miss nonetheless.

This year’s playoff saw a couple of first-round blowouts as Alabama routed Cincinnati like everyone expected the Tide to do and Georgia smacked Michigan around for 60 minutes. Those two teams gave everyone the title game matchup they had hoped for.

After a field goal contest to start the game, Alabama and Georgia battled it out in an exciting national title game with the Bulldogs finally conquering the Tide. Will either of these teams be No. 1 to start the season or will it be another surging team?

What could the preseason AP Top 25 look like as the 2021 season is finally in the books?
