Way-too-early AP Top 25 projections for 2022 college football season
Personally, I’m shocked that more teams looking for a head coach this offseason didn’t make a push for Dave Aranda, but Baylor looks like it’s poised to keep him in town for a long time.
Baylor fans better hope so at least.
Aranda’s first full season with the Bears was a resounding success as he led Baylor to a 12-2 record, a Big 12 title, and a Sugar Bowl win over Ole Miss. Although the Rebels lost Matt Corral in the first few minutes of the game, it was still an impressive win for the Bears.
Who would have thought that Aranda would win 12 games in his first full season as head coach? Definitely not me, especially since Baylor struggled in 2020.
This team will bring back Gerry Bohanon at quarterback and he’s one of the top up-and-coming stars in college football but he’ll have to develop some new top targets with Tyquan Thornton gone.
That defense should be really good yet again but the secondary will experience a fairly huge overhaul. The portal may help there.
