Way-too-early AP Top 25 projections for 2022 college football season
Usually when a program endures the amount of drastic changes that Oklahoma has in an offseason, it spells bad news for the following year.
That doesn’t look to be the case with Oklahoma, however.
Former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables finally felt like it was time to leave Dabo Swinney and forge his own path. He accepted the Oklahoma job after Lincoln Riley bolted for USC and there’s a good feeling that he’s going to have success in Norman.
This was an excellent hire by the Sooners and he is going to be an elite recruiter. He’s actually already bringing in one of the top quarterbacks from the portal in UCF’s Dillon Gabriel after Caleb Williams entered the transfer portal.
The Sooners are losing plenty from last year’s team, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because the 2020 season was a forgettable one for the program.
I’d assume that 2021 ends up being far better and there will be plenty of talent to contend right away.
