Way-too-early AP Top 25 projections for 2022 college football season
Michigan loses a lot of talent from this year’s playoff semifinal team so I considered moving them down a little in the top 10, but I think the incoming recruiting class will help make up for it.
There is a quarterback controversy on Jim Harbaugh’s hands heading into the 2022 season as Cade McNamara had a forgettable Orange Bowl performance against Georgia and freshman sensation JJ McCarthy accounted for the team’s only touchdown in the playoff semifinal loss.
Once that quarterback battle is settled, the Wolverines will have a solid backfield with Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum back and the receiving corps should get a boost with Ronnie Bell returning to full health after missing the season.
The defense might take a slight step back with guys like Dax Hill, Aidan Hutchinson, and David Ojabo all departing so that’ll be the main storyline.
Michigan still looks like a serious title contender despite the sour taste left in its mouth by Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
