3 South Carolina Football early signees who’ll have instant impacts

South Carolina Football exceeded expectations on the field and on the recruiting trail this season. Who are the instant impact recruits for the Gamecocks?

Heading into the 2021 season, not much was being thought about South Carolina Football. After firing Will Muschamp after an unsuccessful tenure and making an unpopular hire with Oklahoma assistant coach Shane Beamer.

Now, Beamer massively outperformed expectations in year one and went 7-6 and ended with a big bowl win over North Carolina. Beamer seems to have a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail and has people thinking that bigger things could be in store for the program soon.

The big news of the offseason for the Gamecocks came via the transfer portal. South Carolina upgraded at quarterback by getting the preseason Heisman favorite to transfer to Columbia.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler is one of the most talented quarterbacks that South Carolina football has had in a long time. He should take the job immediately and improve what was a poor passing offense last season. Rattler is bringing another impact player over from Oklahoma in tight end Austin Stogner, who should be Rattler’s favorite target next season.

Beamer seemed to have certain areas that he wanted to target in recruiting and he did just that. The Gamecocks signed six defensive backs and five defensive linemen for the 2022 cycle. When Beamer took over the program, this team was in need of talent at nearly every position and that should continue to be the goal for South Carolina over the next couple of recruiting cycles.
