Marcus Freeman has a lot of work to do in order to sew up the 2022 class on a high note. Who are Notre Dame football’s top remaining targets?

Who would have thought that Brian Kelly would no longer be Notre Dame football’s coach following the 2021 season? The Irish made the smart choice and promoted Marcus Freeman when Kelly left for LSU abruptly in December.

Now Freeman is working on piecing together his first official class as Notre Dame’s head coach and it’s already ranked No. 7 in the country with 21 players signing in the early period.

But the Irish may not be done just yet with February’s National Signing Day approaching.

Who should be the top priorities for Notre Dame before signing day?

Andrew Paul has been one of the fastest rising recruits in the 2022 class and he’s been picking up offers left and right. Notre Dame was one of the latest to join the race for the talented three-star running back from Texas.

Marcus Freeman offered Paul a week ago and he’s also picked up offers from Clemson, Michigan, Washington, and Oregon recently as well.

Paul may be ranked just the No. 1,211 overall prospect and 89th-best running back in the 2022 class, according to the composite, but he’s far more talented than his ranking. He burst onto the scene just this year and he’s rising quickly. He dominated the high school ranks during his senior year in Dallas and he could be one of those sneaky stars at the next level.

With Kyren Williams gone, it’d be nice to pair a guy like Paul with Chris Tyree and have him battle for snaps with Logan Diggs and Audric Estime and you have a loaded backfield.
