Notre Dame Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
After another double-digit win season, Notre Dame football will look to keep up the winning with a new head coach in 2022.
Notre Dame had an interesting 2021 season. The Fighting Irish won double-digit games yet again and were a couple of upsets away from making the college football playoff.
Longtime head coach Brian Kelly left in the offseason to take the head coaching job at LSU and Notre Dame had an interesting decision to make. It decided to promote rising coaching star Marcus Freeman from defensive coordinator to head coach.
Freeman is known as an excellent defensive coach with a passion for recruiting. That is already paying off, as Notre Dame brought in a good recruiting class for 2022 and has the top-ranked class as of now for 2023. Who knows if they will finish first, but the fact that Notre Dame is in that position is great for their future.
One of the noticeable differences between Notre Dame and teams like Alabama and Georgia has been the way that the other schools out recruit Notre Dame.
Freeman did not have the coaching debut he would have wanted at the end of the season. Notre Dame blew a 21-point lead in the Fiesta Bowl to Oklahoma State.
The Fighting Irish are going to also be losing several talented players from last year’s team. Kyren Williams, Kyle Hamilton, and Jack Coan will all need to be replaced. On top of that, Notre Dame plays a tough schedule in 2022. After playing a rather easy schedule in 2021, Expect things to be a bit more difficult for the Fighting Irish from week to week.
Here are the way-too-early game-by-game predictions for Notre Dame in 2022.
