Michigan Football: Way-too-Early Game-by-Game Predictions for 2022
Michigan is going to return to Ann Arbor for one of their biggest games of the season. The contests between Michigan and Penn State usually determine who is going to be the main challenger in the Big Ten East to Ohio State. These teams played a close contest in Happy Valley last season and it was a key win for Michigan on their way to the playoff.
The Nittany Lions are going to be missing some key pieces from last season’s team. Jahan Dotson and Jaquan Brisker are going to be missing and they were elite players for Penn State. Quarterback Sean Clifford is back for another season, but that might be more of a detriment to the team than anything. With the game being at home, Michigan will once again best Penn State.
Final Score: Michigan 31, Penn State 28 (6-1, 3-1)
When these two rivals get together, it is always a fun game with something on the line. Last season was an instant classic in East Lansing, with Michigan State earning a big-time victory. Spartans running back Kenneth Walker III had a game for the ages and Michigan State was able to overcome a double-digit deficit and win the game. Michigan got the last laugh by being able to win the Big Ten, but the Spartans are sporting a 2-0 record against Michigan under head coach Mel Tucker.
Michigan State is going to be a very different-looking team than they were in 2021. Walker is gone and that is going to be a significant loss for Michigan State. With the game in Ann Arbor, expect the Wolverines to find a way to win another thriller over their in-state rivals.
Final Score: Michigan 27, Michigan State 24 (7-1, 4-1)
