Michigan Football: Way-too-Early Game-by-Game Predictions for 2022
In the penultimate game of the season, Michigan is going to have to avoid looking ahead to the showdown vs Ohio State. The Wolverines are going to need to be focused because Illinois did upset some teams last season and are comfortable playing as the underdog.
Under Brett Bielema, the Fighting Illini managed to go 5-7 in his first season in Champaign. The Illini were tough and played solid defense, especially towards the end of the season. He is still rebuilding that program, but so far so good. This game could be closer than you think because of the game next week for Michigan and their focus might not be all there.
Final Score: Michigan 26, Illinois 14 (10-1, 7-1)
In the game of the year for Michigan, Harbaugh is going to try and make it two in a row for Michigan. The Wolverines got their signature win over Harbaugh by beating the Buckeyes for the first time in a decade. This season, expect for their to be similar stakes in this game, like last years. The Big Ten East, the Big Ten, and a playoff spot will all be on the line when these two rivals square off in Columbus in November.
Despite losing Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, Ohio State is still going to have the nations best offense. C.J. Stroud, TreVeyon Henderson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are all back and all are legitimate All-American candidates.
The game is going to come down to the same gameplan as last year for Michigan. Run the ball and create turnover opportunities and stop Ohio State in the red zone. It worked last year, but it won’t in 2022. Ohio State will win a close game and head to the Big Ten Championship.
Final Score: Michigan 24, Ohio State 31 (10-2, 7-2)
