Texas Football: Way-too-Early Game-by-Game Predictions for 2022

After a disappointing 5-7 season in 2021, how will Steve Sarkisian turn around Texas Football and contend for the Big 12 in 2022?

For being in his first season, there were some high expectations for Texas Football under Steve Sarkisian. Despite an early loss to Arkansas, the Longhorns appeared to be getting it going before blowing a big lead in their rivalry game vs Oklahoma. After that game, things seemed to quickly unravel for Texas.

The losses started to pile up and the season even included an embarrassing loss to Kansas. No matter what the situation is at Texas, the Longhorns should never ever lose to Kansas. There is now considerable pressure on Sarkisian to get this program back to contending for Big 12 Championships. Texas football is also not far from having to go to the SEC and the Horns to get their program right before doing that.

There is hope for a turnaround this year. Texas has their most talented quarterback since Vince Young in Quinn Ewers. Ewers was a former Texas commit before enrolling at Ohio State. After deciding to transfer, there was a lot of pressure on Sarkisian to land the talented quarterback. Ewers is back in his home state and will almost certainly be starting from week one for the Longhorns.

Texas also brought in a top-five recruiting class and some other impact transfers. With Lincoln Riley off to USC and Iowa State losing a lot of impact players, the door might be open for Texas to take the Big 12. However, Baylor and Oklahoma State return talent and will be formidable opponents.
