The recruit who should be on the top of Sam Pittman’s list heading into National Signing Day is four-star cornerback Gentry Williams from Oklahoma.

The elite recruit has been committed to Oklahoma since October but he didn’t sign his letter of intent in the early period because Lincoln Riley left for USC which made things a little more difficult. Arkansas hasn’t stopped recruiting him since he committed and that might just pay off in the end.

Although he’s listed as an “athlete” recruit, he likely projects as a cornerback — and a really good one at that. In fact, 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks projects him as a future first-round NFL draft pick. He’s a track star as well, but he suffered an ACL injury in 2020 which may worry some, but he’s an elite talent nonetheless.

Jackson State might also be in the running for him as Deion Sanders offered him on Dec. 29, but I wouldn’t count Pittman and Co. out.

Williams is the No. 82 recruit in the country and 10th-best cornerback as well as Oklahoma’s top prospect, according to the composite.
