Michigan football has a top-10 recruiting class in 2022 but could the Wolverines add another five-star? We look at the top targets for the late period.

It was a banner year for the Michigan football program as the Wolverines posted their first 12-win season since 1997 and also their first top-3 finish since that same season.

Michigan football also knocked off Ohio State, won the Big Ten East for the first time, and captured its first Big Ten title since 2004.

The Wolverines also made their first College Football Playoff and if you follow recruiting closely, you know what a game-changer that can be on the trail.

Michigan signed the No. 9 class on early national signing day and with the national signing period (the late portion) just around the corner, here’s a look at three recruits the Wolverines could look to add to their 2022 recruiting haul.

Josh Conerly, 5-star offensive tackle

Michigan football signed one five-star prospect so far in 2022 and is looking to make it two with Josh Conerly Jr., the No. 25 prospect overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Conerly is the No. 4 offensive tackle recruit in this class and has a strong relationship with Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore. His crystal ball projections are split between Washington and Michigan and the Huskies are being aided by the addition of Courtney Morgan to their recruiting staff.

He was on Harbaugh’s staff and has strong ties to Conerly too, who is from Seattle. The 6-foot-5 283-pound tackle visited Ann Arbor twice including for the Ohio State game. He also watched Michigan dominate Washington.

But it’s hard to call either side the favorite. The fact that Jim Harbaugh rumors to the NFL are running rampant probably isn’t helping the Wolverines in this recruitment.

Yet, Harbaugh just completed an in-home visit with Conerly and if the Wolverines land him, he would be their second-highest rated signee.
