Nebraska football is looking to end the 2022 recruiting class on a high note. Will the Cornhuskers land these top remaining targets?

The 2021 season was an interesting one for Nebraska football. The Cornhuskers finished just 3-9 but could have easily won nine games as most were decided by seven points or less.

Scott Frost won some people over because it was the best his teams have looked in years despite the lackluster record and many are buying stock in Nebraska for 2022.

It will all start with finishing the 2022 recruiting class on a high note. It needs some improvement in the rankings as it’s currently ranked No. 51 in the country and last in the Big Ten.

Who should be atop Nebraska’s list of targets for signing day?

One of the quieter recruitments in the 2022 class, Devin Smith is a solid linebacker prospect from Florida but there’s no real feel of where he’s leaning ahead of signing day.

The three-star from Jacksonville is ranked the No. 105 linebacker in the class and he’s Florida’s 138th-best recruit, according to the composite. He’s got Nebraska high on his list, it seems, along with Miami and Georgia Tech.

Nebraska could use some linebacker depth and Smith would be a solid player a year or two down the line as he utilizes a potential redshirt in 2022.

Landing Smith would be a pleasant surprise for the Cornhuskers on signing day.
