Oregon Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
Oregon football is going to have a new head coach and will have some key player departures, what will the Ducks’ record be in 2022?
It was another solid season for Oregon football, but it could have been even better. After getting a road win at Ohio State, the Ducks had a lot of momentum and playoff talk. Despite a loss to Stanford, Oregon got as high as third in the College Football Playoff rankings, but two blowout losses to Utah put a damper on the season.
Mario Cristobal left Oregon to go and be the head coach at Miami and the Ducks replaced him with Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.
Lanning is coming off coaching one of the greatest defenses in the history of college football and has risen quickly in the coaching ranks. He is known as a solid recruiter and developer of talent and he got Florida State and former Memphis offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham to be his offensive coordinator. Dillingham has run some creative offenses and is going to look to make the Ducks an even better unit on that side of the ball.
The other headline move that the Ducks made this offseason was the addition of former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix. Oregon has struggled at the position the past couple of seasons and finding a more talented option was an important move. Nix has his detractors, but he can make plays and can add a new element to the offense that Oregon has not had.
Oregon should be among the Pac-12 favorites yet again in 2022. USC looks to be building something special, but it could take a year for the Trojans to be back. Utah is going to be bringing back a lot of talent and will probably be the favorite, but the Utes are a beatable team.
