South Carolina Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
For the first game of the season, South Carolina will welcome Georgia State to Columbia. The Panthers are coming off of a successful season that ended with a big bowl game win over Ball State. Georgia State had a stout offense and is one of the better Sun Belt teams.
The Panthers might be a solid Sun Belt team, but South Carolina is going to be too much for the Panthers, especially at home. Look for Rattler to have a solid first game as a Gamecock and get the season started off on a good note.
Final Score: South Carolina 45, Georgia State 24 (1-0)
For their SEC opener, South Carolina is going to have to go on the road and take on an Arkansas team that like the Gamecocks, overachieved and won more games than originally thought. The Razorbacks are going to be a tough team to beat again in 2022 and that speaks a lot to the culture that head coach Sam Pittman has built.
Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson is back to lead the offense and Arkansas got a big transfer portal addition in Oklahoma wide receiver Jadon Haselwood who will become the main receiver and try to replace Treylon Burks. Arkansas is going to be a more physical team than South Carolina and will win the game.
Final Score: South Carolina 24, Arkansas 35 (1-1, 0-1 SEC)
