With some major moves in the offseason, both LSU and USC are among four College Football teams poised for big win increases in 2022.

There is no offseason in college football. The last couple of months have proven that with all the major changes that have happened across the sport.

Not big changes like conferences or anything like that, but changes in coaches and also the transfer of star players is going to have a major impact on next season.

Not only did elite head coaches like Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, and Mario Cristobal change jobs, but elite players like Caleb Williams and Quinn Ewers also left via the transfer portal.

Williams is still deciding, although it’s starting to look like Wisconsin will be the choice. Still, even without Williams, USC football is one of the teams poised to take a big step forward in 2022, and joining the Trojans are three other big-name college football programs ready for big win increases in 2022.

To count as a big win increase, we are projecting each college football team on this list to win at least four more games than they did in 2022.

USC Football — 4 wins in 2021

Of all the head-coaching hires made this offseason, USC football made the best move in my opinion as Lincoln Riley is a superstar. Not only is he an elite recruiter but players want to play in his innovative system and the talent is going to flock to LA with Riley in charge.

We’ve seen that happening already. Not only did USC football rebound by adding multiple five-stars in the 2022 recruiting class before the early signing period ended, but the Trojans are ranked third in 247 sports transfer portal rankings right now.

USC had added 12 players from the transfer portal and while it has also lost Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg, it has added four-star receivers in Mario Williams and Brenden Rice, as well as four-star running back Jordan Dye from Oregon.

The corner right now for the Trojans is quarterback. Kedon Slovis transferred out too and with Williams trending towards Wisconsin, Miller Moss, a top-100 signee in 2021 could be the guy, at least until another starting-caliber QB enters the portal.

But even if the Trojans have to start Moss, he was 8-of-13 for 74 yards and a score last season and Riley will get enough out of him to win at least eight games.

If USC football is able to get Caleb Williams or another high-quality QB, 10 wins next season isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. But even without a big-time QB addition from the transfer portal, Riley will have the Trojans winning again in 2022.
