Nebraska football – 3 wins in 2021

Last season, there was no college football team that was more disappointing than Nebraska. The Huskers had a team talented enough to win 7-8 games but thanks to a number of late-game meltdowns against Michigan State, Iowa, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Minnesota — to name a few — Nebraska football failed to reach a bowl game again under Scott Frost.

In four full seasons, Frost has yet to lead Nebraska football to a winning season or a bowl game. But after firing basically his entire offensive staff and bringing in Wark Whipple from Pittsburgh to be offensive coordinator, as well as Mickey Joseph from LSU to coach wide receivers, the Huskers feel poised for a big leap.

Yes, it’s been said before about Nebraska football. But Whipple was a big addition. He did wonders with Kenny Pickett at Pitt and with the additions of Casey Thompson from Texas and Chubba Purdy from Florida State, both former four-star QB recruits, the offense should be better with Adrian Martinez off to K-State.

Thompson led the Big 12 in touchdown passes last season and if he can bring some consistency to the quarterback position for Nebraska football, the Huskers should have enough to put together a winning season.

Anthony Grant was the No. 1 junior college running back and he’s coming to join the running back room at Nebraska, while Trey Palmer is a talented wideout coming from LSU.

With 11 recruits total added from the transfer portal, plus some game-changing additions to the coaching staff, Nebraska football is going to get over the hump — a winning season — and win at least 7-8 games in 2022.
