2022 NFL Draft: 5 outstanding performances from the NFLPA Bowl
By Dante Pryor
Cole Kelley, quarterback: Southeast Louisiana
Perhaps no one player took more advantage of their opportunity than Cole Kelley. That was indicated by him winning the game’s MVP. Kelley completed 12 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown. Kelley also led the National team to what would be the game deciding score.
Kelley showed poise late in the game, making key throws to put his team in position to win. In addition, Kelley did a tremendous job of managing situations as well as making great throws with his arm.
Late in the game, Kelley found Arkansas tight end Blake Kern for a 47 yard touchdown pass and Indiana tight end Payton Hendershot for the go ahead two-point conversion.
Kelley measured in at 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds. He throws a solid catchable ball. Kelley knows when to throw with velocity and when to threw with touch. He has good feel and can escape pressure to extend plays.
Kelley can be statuesque in the pocket and his release is low. Those could be reasons the Arkansas transfer is on the outside looking in when it comes to the 2022 NFL draft. Kelley has a good arm but not elite. He participated in the Hula Bowl and will need the entire process to prove himself draftable or as a priority free agent.
