Texas A&M football topped the charts with their 2022 signing class, adding 30 guys to the club. Here are some superlatives for the class.

Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M football just landed the best recruiting class in history. They signed seven five-star recruits, more than any other team in a single class and more than in their previous six classes combined.

The class includes 17 of the top 100 players, as many as their previous three classes combined. These are staggering numbers.

On that note, let’s talk about some superlatives for the class.

Recruiter of the year: Bobby Taylor, CB

This guy was all over the recruiting trail, pulling guys into this class and helping coaches complete what has become one of the — if not the — best classes in recent history. If you’re an Aggie fan and you’re not following him, you are absolutely doing it wrong.

Biggest surprise commitment: Marquis Groves-Killebrew, CB

Groves-Killebrew had been a solid Georgia commitment for a while, but in December he flipped that commitment to Texas A&M in a move that shocked a lot of people. He was the longest-tenured Georgia commitment and to flip on early signing day — wow.

Locker room leader: Donovan Green, TE

Now, don’t quote me on this because I’ve never met the kid, but from what I have seen of Donovan Green he seems as if he is going to be a leader for the Aggies for the next three to four years. He will be filling in the shoes of Jalen Wydermeyer and fighting for a starting job with Jake Johnson, Blake Smith, and Baylor Cupp, but whether he starts day one or not, he is going to be a guy that this locker room needs.

Most likely to win the Heisman: Conner Weigman, QB

Could the Heisman Trophy make its way back to Aggieland due to another superstar quarterback ready to make his mark on the college football world? Conner Weigman finished his high school career with 98 passing touchdowns and 25 rushing scores. If he can make that same kind of impact on the college field, he could quickly become a Heisman favorite.

Most likely to start right away (offense): Kam Dewberry, OL

Kam Dewberry is the protege of departed All-American lineman Kenyon Green and is likely to jump right into the starting offensive line, just as his predecessor did when he made his way to campus. Dewberry is one of the top linemen in the state and the nation, so don’t be surprised for him to start Week 1 on the line to protect whoever may be the starting quarterback.

Most likely to start right away (defense): Walter Nolen, DL

Walter Nolen tied Myles Garrett as the highest-rated recruit that Texas A&M has ever had and they would be crazy to not let him start out of the gate. On top of the fact that he is crazy talented, the Aggies are losing four big names on the defensive line and will need the help of a highly-rated guy like Nolen to fill those holes.

Most underrated (offense): Mark Nabou, OL

This three-star pick-up is not one that many are paying attention to, but he could be an extremely valuable asset to Texas A&M in the coming seasons. I’m telling you right now that Jimbo Fisher is not going to go outside of the state to get a lineman that isn’t talented and that he doesn’t see making an impact on this team.

Most underrated (defense): Bobby Taylor, CB

Yeah, you all love him because he has been a strong recruiter that has been in the know about all of the guys that are committing. However, he is also an extremely talented cornerback, a position of need for the Aggies. There are two other guys that are ranked higher than him at corner, but I think that Taylor will be a guy that the locker room really buys into and therefore will make an immeasurable impact on the team.

Future first-round draft pick: Shemar Stewart, DL

Any guy that is the size of current Myles Garrett is a first-rounder in my book, especially if he knows what to do with that size and Stewart does exactly that. Now, there are plenty of future first-rounders in this class, but I think Stewart is going to be special for Texas A&M football.
