Taking a look at Nebraska football’s 2022 recruiting class, here are three signees who will have instant impacts next season for the Huskers.

The 2021 Nebraska football season was a tumultuous one and that led to a recruiting cycle that was less than stellar for the Huskers.

Head coach Scott Frost was on the hot seat and some might have been a little surprised when AD Trev Alberts agreed to have Frost return. It was a situation similar to that of Jim Harbaugh except Frost didn’t get a gigantic reduction in salary.

It’s clear though he needs to produce in 2022. It’s do or die. In terms of recruiting, the late period was really good for the Huskers and the staff changes Frost made have made a major impact.

Now, here is a look at three Nebraska football signees in 2022, among high school and JUCO recruits, that will have an instant impact next season.

3-star RB Ajay Allan

One of the commitments Nebraska football won on National Signing was that of Ajay Allan, a running back that is considered a four-star by some services and is still a top-500 prospect according to the 247 sports composite rankings for 2022.

Allan was once a commitment of TCU, so it was a good sign that Nebraska football was able to flip him in the late signing period. He’s another prospect out of Louisiana and is 5-foot-11, 182 pounds.

One reason Allan chose Nebraska is that he likely sees an opportunity on the depth chart. There is no clear-cut starting running back and that’s a position where it’s fairly easy to come in and contribute, pass protection notwithstanding.

Anthony Grant is a top-10 JUCO transfer too and both guys should be fighting it out with Rahmir Johnson and others for playing time in 2022. I expect Grant to contribute but Allan just has more talent in my opinion and is a big-time sleeper in this 2022 recruiting class.
