Michigan football put together a top-10 recruiting class in the 2022 cycle and here are the superlatives to describe the Wolverines 2022 haul.

While much of the talk surrounding Michigan football has been about head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines put together a solid 2022 recruiting class and still have a chance to add to it with five-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr.

Conerly’s lead recruiter has been Sherrone Moore and he was just promoted to offensive coordinator, which should boost the Wolverines’ hopes of landing the elite lineman.

Either way, after hiring a new staff last January, Michigan football did a really good job in a short time period in 2022, and here’s a look at the Wolverines 2022 recruiting class superlatives.

Biggest surprise commit: Derrick Moore, EDGE

Derrick Moore was an early target for Michigan football but he wasn’t really available until Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma for USC. Moore, who was committed to the Sooners re-opened his recruitment and connected with the Wolverines again.

Michigan football assistant, Biff Poggi, an analyst, was formerly Moore’s head coach in high school, so it was a natural fit and for the Wolverines, it was a boon as Moore showed in the Under Armour All-American game he’s an elite pass rusher.

Moore is now Michigan football’s second-highest ranked commitment in the 2022 recruiting class at 49th overall. And landing top-50 players at edge rusher and cornerback (Will Johnson) is one way to keep the defense playing at a high level well into the future.
