Quarterback

Starter: Tyler Van Dyke

Backup: Jake Garcia

Last season, Miami entered the season with D’Eriq King as the starting quarterback and he had high expectations. Despite coming off an injury, King was thought to be a Heisman contender, but injuries again ended his season pretty early. Enter Van Dyke.

Van Dyke came in and was shaky in his first two starts against Virginia and North Carolina, but finished the season as one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He has the elite arm strength you look for in a quarterback and is one of the best deep-ball throwers in the country. If he can pick up new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis’s scheme, Van Dyke could be a Heisman Trophy sleeper.

The backup position will be filled by former blue-chip recruit Jake Garcia. Garcia is a very talented player and his time at Miami could be coming as soon as 2023 if Van Dyke leaves for the NFL after this upcoming season.
