Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Purdue. George Karlaftis. 7. EDGE. player. 31

With the Giants addressing their top need with the fifth overall pick in Ikem Ekwonu, I think they have to go with their second-biggest need with the No. 7 pick.

Purdue’s George Karlaftis was an absolute menace in the Big Ten this past season and has caused problems for opposing linemen for two-plus years (save most of 2020 when he played in just two games). He finished his Purdue career with 97 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks with six pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

New York will love Karlaftis coming off the edge.

OT. Mississippi State. Charles Cross. 8. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 44

With the top three edge rushers gone already, I think Atlanta goes with the second-biggest need in an offensive lineman with the eighth pick rather than reaching for another defensive end.

The Falcons could also go with a receiver here, but I’m thinking Charles Cross is the best option after a strong 2021 season. He’s an athletic lineman who will bolster that shaky line and while Malik Willis would be a fun option here, I think Cross is the safe pick.
