Quarterback

Starter: C.J Stroud
Backup: Kyle McCord

This is about as easy as it gets at the quarterback position. Stroud is going to enter the 2022 season as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy, alongside Alabama’s Bryce Young. Stroud is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and with a good season, will be one of the top picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There has been some attrition at the quarterback position for the Buckeyes, but that is to be expected when you recruit so many talented guys. Jack Miller transferred to Florida and former number one recruit Quinn Ewers is now at Texas.

That is going to once again leave the backup quarterback duties to Kyle McCord. McCord is a former blue-chip recruit himself and is waiting to get his opportunity in 2023. Ohio State did sign a high four-star prospect this cycle in Devin Brown, but he is not going to be seeing the field in 2022, barring injury.
