Ohio State Football: Way-too-early 2022 depth chart projection
Ohio State football is welcoming back some of the nation’s best playmakers this season. How will the Buckeyes’ 2022 depth chart look?
For Ohio State football standards, it did not reach its expectations in 2021. Sure, the Buckeyes had the nation’s best offense and won 11 games and the Rose Bowl, but they missed out on the two things that matter most at Ohio State. They did not win the Big Ten and did not reach the College Football Playoff. They also lost to hated rival Michigan.
The 2022 Buckeyes are going to enter the season ranked in the top three and one of the favorites to win the national championship.
Most of the nation’s best offense is going to return intact and that includes Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud. Wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson are gone to the NFL, but as the nation saw in the Rose Bowl, the talent that Ohio State has at receiver is not going to drop off at all.
To make the team even better, Ohio State brought in the fourth-ranked recruiting class in the country. This recruiting class should provide some key depth and could even see some guys contribute on the field this season.
Defensively, Ohio State decided to hire one of the nation’s best defensive coordinators away from Oklahoma State. Jim Knowles is hoping to make the Buckeyes more consistent on that side of the ball because that cost Ohio State games against Oregon and Michigan.
This is one of the most talented rosters in college football and this team is going to be the Big Ten favorite in 2022. It will be up to them to prove they can get back to the playoff.
Here is the way-too-early 2022 depth chart projection for Ohio State football in 2022.
