Notre Dame Football: Way-too-Early 2022 Depth Chart Projection
Notre Dame Football is undergoing a coaching change for the first time in over a decade and promises to look a little different. What is the 2022 depth chart going to look like?
Notre Dame football quietly had its fifth straight double-digit win season in 2021 and was close to making the college football playoff for the third time in four seasons. Now for the first time since 2010, Brian Kelly is not going to be on the sideline as the head coach. Defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman was elevated to the head position and looks to continue the success that Kelly built over the past decade.
The Fighting Irish are going to need to replace some key players on both sides of the ball, but return plenty of experience. The key position battle that is going to be watched closely this offseason is at quarterback. It is always headline news whenever Notre Dame is making a quarterback change and it will be one of the most intriguing position battles in the country.
Some of the key guys missing are going to be running back Kyren Williams and safety Kyle Hamilton. Hamilton was injured for the latter half of the 2021 season but was the best defensive back in college football when healthy. His departure will be eased by the incoming Northwestern transfer Brandon Joseph. Joseph was one of the best safeties in the country in 2020 but was not the same guy last season.
This promises to be an intriguing season for Notre Dame and the Irish will have to make sure to get ready. A monster opening game against Ohio State awaits them in September.
Here is the way-too-early prediction for Notre Dame’s depth chart in 2022.
