After signing one of the top recruiting classes in 2022, here are three Penn State football signees who will make a major impact next season.

Despite another mediocre campaign on the field for Penn State football in 2021, the Nittany Lions killed it on the recruiting trail signing the No. 6 overall class and the second-best group in the Big Ten according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Penn State signed some big-time players on both sides of the ball such as five-star quarterback Drew Allar, five-star running back Nicholas Singleton, and five-star pass rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton.

Most impressively, Penn State football signed Allar and Kaden Saunders — two recruits ranked in the top 55 — out of Ohio State. It’s a recruiting class that features 15 blue-chip prospects (4-stars or higher) and we look at the three who will have an instant impact next season.

1. RB Nicholas Singleton

One position that should be impacted right away by a freshman is running back. Noah Cain transferred to LSU and while the Nittany Lions have Keyvone Lee who averaged nearly five yards per attempt last season, Nicholas Singleton is the top running back recruit the Nittany Lions have gotten since Saquon Barkley.

Sean Clifford is back and back in 2019 when he had a running game that averaged 4.9 yards per attempt, Penn State football won 11 games.

That’s the kind of ground game that Clifford will need to be successful next season and Singleton, who was the top-ranked running back recruit in the country in 2022 according to the 247 sports composite rankings, will provide an immediate boost.
