3. Caleb Downs, Safety

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the top prospect in the state of Georgia is going to be high on the list for Kirby Smart and his coaching staff. Smart has done a great job of locking down the state of Georgia and keeping the best talent in the state from leaving.

Caleb Downs is not only the top-ranked player in the state but the top safety as well. Downs is not the biggest safety at 6-foot-0, 185 pounds, but he is a playmaker that can impact every level of the defense with his ability. He is not afraid to make plays at the line of scrimmage for someone of his size and he has excellent ball skills and instincts.

The competition for Downs is sure to be immense. He holds offers from schools such as Alabama. Clemson, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. It is unsure who is in the lead as of now, but Georgia should be prepared to fight for the top-ranked player in the state.
