3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

I already know what you’re thinking because, honestly, I’d probably think the same thing if I were to read a list like this with Notre Dame on it: could the Irish be any more overrated?

I get it. Every single year, the Irish are dubbed national title contenders and there have been plenty of letdowns. College football fans just like to assume that the Irish are overrated any time they’re given any type of respect, and it’s somewhat warranted.

But I’m a big believer in Marcus Freeman. So much so, in fact, that I think he immediately raises the ceiling of the program higher than it was under Brian Kelly.

Why? Freeman is the exact type of coach that finds success nowadays in college football. He’s young, he knows how to relate to players, he’s an elite recruiter, and he has plenty of energy. He’s the perfect coach to change the culture of a program for the better and the players have seemingly already bought in.

If Freeman consistently recruits at a top-10 recruiting class level (which I believe he will), the Irish are only going to continue contending for playoff berths. But this time, they’ll actually put up fights.

Notre Dame under Freeman will be a scary sight.
