Ohio State football has one of the most loaded rosters heading into the 2022 season. Who could be some of the breakout stars?

It is no secret that Ohio State is one of the most talented teams in the country. The Buckeyes recruit as well as anyone and churn out NFL talent on a regular basis. They are going to have to replace a lot of guys that left for the NFL this season, but that is going to leave room for several guys to break out.

Last season, Ohio State had a number of guys breakout. C.J. Stroud had not started a game at quarterback until last season and had a breakout season in a major way. Stroud became a Heisman finalist and looks to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country this season. Most analysts thought that running back TreVeyon Henderson would be a breakout candidate for the Buckeyes last season and he was.

With wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson leaving for the NFL, someone in that talented wide receiver room is going to have to step up beside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With Haskell Garett and Tyreke Smith gone, Ohio State is going to need some defensive linemen to become playmakers. The same thing goes for the offensive line with the departures of Nicholas Petit-Frere and Thayer Munford.

Having players breakout and have a huge season is something that every team contending for a national championship is going to need. Ohio State has the players, they just need them to step up now.

Here are the three breakout candidates for Ohio State in 2022.
