Wide Receiver

Starting X receiver: Brenden Rice
Backup: Terrell Bynum

Starting slot receiver: Mario Williams
Backup: Tahj Washington

Starting Z receiver: Gary Bryant Jr.
Backup: C.J. Williams

This is going to be one of the most interesting positions for USC in 2022. They have some talent, but none of the guys expected to contribute have had to be a number one option or had a big season.

The guy that USC fans will be familiar with is Gary Bryant Jr. He has been a solid receiver for the Trojans for the past couple of seasons, but he is going to have added responsibility in 2022.

Mario Williams was a top-50 recruit coming out of high school in 2021 and had a solid year at Oklahoma last season and is familiar with Lincoln Riley’s offense. Brenden Rice is a transfer from Colorado and the son of NFL legend Jerry Rice. He is one of the few wide receivers that USC has with size, so he should get plenty of playing time.

The backup situation is a bit muddled. Washington transfer Terrell Bynum has playing experience but has been pedestrian thus far in his career. Being with a better-coached offense could turn that around, however. A true freshman that Trojans fans will be keeping an eye on is C.J. Williams. Williams is a top-100 recruit and very talented.
